As part of its ongoing inquiry into Smarter Governance, the GovLab is undertaking an expertise-identification and matching project with the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, called ExpertNet.
ExpertNet seeks to expand what we know by going beyond titles to capture a broad picture of people’s expertise. Useful expertise goes beyond what shows up in formal credentials. It can include a wide range of skills and past experience, encompassing what we know how to do and our ability to explain it to others.
To help the city improve problem solving, Buenos Aires is partnering with the GovLab to build an open source, linked data system for capturing municipal government expertise.
